Fire Trucks!
You know, it is simply amazing all the things you remember you loved when you were a child, when you have one! It was a childhood dream (among all the childhood dreams I had) to be a fireman. I used to watch that show "Emergency" With paramedics John Gage and Roy DeSoto. Who didn't have the hots for Nurse Dixi McCall at Rampart Hospital? I still remember that "bam ba, bah, barh, bahhhhh..." sound that the fire house made when there was an "Emergency".
So again, what is it that sparks these lost memories from the deep dark shadows of my cerebral collective? My kid! We went to the Lake Geneva Christmas parade last night as we always do, and as with all parades, the start and finish always include a showing of some of the finest pieces of machines and tax dollars well spent. Beautiful bright Red Fire Trucks!
Ah, the wailing of the loud sirens and deafening air horns. The brave men and women that pilot these monsters into some of the most dangerous situations. Volunteers that give of themselves and their lives to make sure we are all safe from whatever the peril. Be it a simple bond fire run a muck, to a 3 alarm warehouse fire, or simply retrieving a precocious yet curious feline from the tallest of trees.
I took tons of pictures of these fine works of art including a nice shot of a couple of fireman a top the boom of our largest hook and ladder! They actually stopped the truck in the middle of the parade for me so I could zoom in an get a shot. Amazing!
I new I was taking a lot of photos of fire engines for some reason, though it did not occur to me until I returned home when my son grabbed his fire truck and began playing with it. Sure, he has played with it before, but never once did he move it around the floor and begin making "weeee oooooh" sounds! His fire truck has a button that activates the siren. He's always used that button. Not this time. I'm not sure if my little fireman simply associated the his fire truck to the larger than life full scale models he had seen earlier that night, but he certainly recognized that siren. His friend Howard did not seem to enjoy the blaring and at times obnoxious blast from the horns and sirens, but my boy looked with excitement and amazement never once crying or complaining. Not every kid like that type of noise. Though mine seems to enjoy making that noise now!
I still want to be a fireman!
