All the good Kennedys die
It's simply amazing. Just when you think the Democrats will try and regroup to form a more perfect union, their shinning star takes them back to their roots. So enter Ted "I murdered a helpless young women and got away with it" Kennedy. There is a reason why he does not want Rice to be Secretary of State, and Iraq has little if anything to do with it. God forbid a Black Women hold such a position. It was bad enough we had to have a black man. But for Kennedy, the one of the last of the racist mindset of the segregated 60's, this is just too much.
So JFK takes one in the head, but never a racist word did he utter that I know of. He began the end to the cold war by facing it head on. He helped a nation rise above the gimme, gimme, gimme mantra of what was to become the modern day liberal. Instead he urged us to ask what "we can do", not what our "country can do". And many of us did just that.
Enter his little brother; roamed with the likes of Caesar Chavez when all anyone else saw was what Teddy boy would refer to as a "wet back" (or much worse given his history of racist beliefs). Bobby was a champion not only for the Mexican American's how like Mr. Chavez called them, "the Irish of the 20th Century", but one of Dr. King's most unknown of supporters. Bobby put himself intentionally in harms way on numerous occasions speaking to audiences of blacks where no other white man could.
I could go on and on about both men and the accomplishments and positive marks on American history they have created. Frankly, I do not have the time.
For Ted however, there are no great things to talk about. There are not monumental accomplishments, no triumphal stories of glory. Nothing but murder, hatred, racism and a blatant disregard for the will of the people who put the drunk SOB where he is.
Make no mistake about it. Ted Kennedy asks not what you can do you for your country, but what you should do for him.
