Another reason Fox rules -> !!!

The last time I saw a Super Bowl as good as the one I saw last night was back in 1997. Let me take you back. It was the 96 season and the Packers were on top of the world. Reggie was alive, Desmond Howard actually did not suck back then, and Farve, well, what can one say, Farve was Farve.

In any event I baby-sat my parents house while they and my sister went to watch the Packers win in New Orleans. It sucked. Not the game; watching their house. Wisconsin and its best buddy (when Miller is not around) winter, ushered in around 2 feet of snow. I ended up trying to revive my dad's old 73' Deere which I used in an futile attempt to plow their drive way. I think I ended up pulling the Deere (which puked out) up the drive way with my old trusty old Dodge Spirit.

Anyway, too the point at hand. Fox did a spectacular job with this years Super Bowl. The commercials SUCKED ASS, IMHO, save for that P-diddy Pepsi commercial. I still don't know who the hell P-diddy is, but I know he used to be Puff Daddy, or Shawn Puffy Colmes... I think he played some b-ball for the rockets, or was an actor on some drug commercial... Like I said, I'm not sure what the hell he does, but that Pepsi commercial was absolutely hilarious.

Oh, the Bud commercials were wonderful and funny as always. One of them brought a tear to my eye, as I am sure it did a great many people. I thought to myself at the end of the commercial; "AB just spent 2.4 million dollars doing what every American ought to be doing every day" Thank your troops, your protectors of freedom, conveyors of Democracy. Applaud them, and be grateful.

The game itself was awesome. Seeing the Eagles get the living shit kicked out of them by the Pat's.. It was like one of those MasterCard commercials that so lovingly implies that everything is "priceless".

Super Bowl Tickets, $2000

Hotel room on a moored super cruise ship converted to riverboat hotel, $400

Eagles suck gum (bosenberry flavoured) $20

McNabb sacked on the second play of the first drive PRICELESS!!!

A little side note ---> I thought Rush's comments about McNabb earlier last year were a bit over the top, but now I have to agree. McNabb really is over-rated.

Enter the half time show. Simply the best half time show I have ever seen. Not only was it actually not tasteless, it sounded good... No lip syncing, no wardrobe malfunction, not that I give a shit.

Look, when it came to last years farce (and that is what is was), I could really give a shit that I was forced to see a nappy old crusty breast on some 40+ old has been that looks a lot like a child molester.

What truly bothered me was seeing a performer that sucks! Actually two performers that SUCK! I'm not sure anyone ever liked Justin Timberlake, outside of a few 12 year olds on crack, that and perhaps a stray cat or two. And when was the last time you actually remember Janet Jackson doing something? What has she done for me lately? NOTHING. I cannot remember the last time she had a hit, or was actually popular. Both performers suck. There is no other kind way to put it. They suck, their performance sucked. To top it off, they lip sync their sucky performances live.

So back to the real "P" Sir Paul McCartney. What a great performance. He did not give us one of these "shove it down my throat" microcosm collage of his entire life's work/anthology. Instead he chose 4 songs, (not all Beatles tunes) each with their own strength and unforgettable power. He did not lip sync. He actually performed his songs the way they were meant to be sung and played. There was no woo yahhhaaa, crapy over signing and lousy last minute ad-lib guitar lics that sound like a dog got shot in the ass by a Red Rider BB gun. His brilliant performance was not filled with the shrill sound of teeny bopper, media mogul fabricated glam stars trying to sing along with Paul in unison. Thank God that did not happen. I'd rather shit glass than listen to crap like that.

In short, the music sounded great. The game was exciting and fun to watch. The commercials were few, and sucked.

If I had one thing I could change about Fox's Super Bowl coverage? Without a doubt, I would string Chris "I sucked at football, and suck more as an announcer, if that is actually possible" Collingsworth up by his balls (if he had any) and beat him with a tooth brush. What a luzer this freak is. Here is one example. We have one quarter out of the way and a scoreless Super Bowl... We are about 4 minutes into a scoreless second quarter (and this is after McNabb has been sacked and thrown how many interceptions already???) Collingsworth opens his pie hole and utters the unthinkable (and I quote) "the Eagles have without a doubt just dominated this game." What? Sometimes I wonder if Collingsworth is not partially related to Dennis Miller? That would be too kind actually. Could anyone be that dumb? Hell, even Gifford actually learned to think before speaking, that or he learned to read queue cards.

Outside of that homage to stupidity, this years Super Bowl, and the Half Time show were near perfect. What a great time. Hopefully Fox will be doing the SB again next year!

You can't be serious. Paul McCartney lip sync'd EVERY SONG- and they still had no life behind them at all. The only part worse was Charlie Daniels trying to add vigor to his act.

P. Diddy is about 5'9" - what basketball team did he play for? LOL. He owns a record company.

I never though someone could have such opposite views on stuff. I like the packers and think collinsworth is a jackass, but on the flip side, you sound like an idiot for the most part of your post.

To quote Larry Flynt; "opinions are like assholes, everyones got one."

The P Diddy thing is what is called "sarcasm". I'm obviously not a P Diddy fan, and while I know who he is, I could care less.. He is not gonna make me buy Pepsi. The commercial was funny as hell though, and I get the point. But since when do other people assume that what P Diddy does is going to some how set a standard, or trend? I am sure Pepsi could have found someone else to fill the trend setter shoes. Trouble is they are fast running out of people like that. They either spontaneously combust, or end up on trial.

Could you provide me some solid evidence that Sir Paul McCartney was lip syncing? I'm not buying it.

IN all seriousness it is great that we have differing opinions.. That's a wonderful thing. Imaging how boring the world would be and how uninteresting my blog would be if you agreed with me. Yes the Packers are and always will be number one in my book! It's nice to know I am not the only one that is not the least bit enthused by Collinsworth. On the flip side I'd like to thank you for the wonderful compliment. It's nice to know that I can resinate idiotic decibels with a simple rant in a lowly internet blog. I had no idea my thoughts were that audible.

Peace and Chicken Grease!
