Stuck in Rolla

I mentioned we are stuck in Rolla? As many of you know I recently upgraded my Honda Rebel to a V-Rod. Part of the deal was, I got the V-Rod, my wife/son got a puppy.

So my wife looked on line and found a kennel down in Southern Missouri (Mountain Grove) to be specific that had Lab puppies. We settled on a White Neutered male. On our trip down we stopped in St. Louis (where I grew up) and took my son to the St. Louis Zoo. We all had a blast. It was hot as hell, but it was a great day.

After that we headed over the Kirkwood, Mo. (one town over from Webster Groves where I grew up) to stop at Docs Harley Davidson. Got some nice pics, and picked up some T-Shirts and another mod for my Rod! I got a Chrome License Plate Frame, along with some kick but 50th Anniversary T, and a Taz T that my son picked out.

From there we drove down to Rolla where I had booked in a room at the Holiday Inn Express. Rolla is a college town and home to the University of Missouri at Rolla. The town is like a ghost town this time of year however given school is out.

Ok, so to make a long story short, my parents 2001 Olds Bravada that we borrowed to pick up the dog, broke down. I put the Old in reverse after going out to get some pizza and milk, and lost the tranny. All I had was 2 forward gears, 1st and 3rd. What a bitch.

So we were stuck in Rolla on a Saturday night. The dealers do not open until Monday, so we had to stay put. We made the best of it, swimming, visiting a local auto museum, and of course (thank God) shopping at Wal-Mart!

Monday I camped out at the dealer until they opened and got the Bravada in for service. They gave me a loaner and said it would be Wednesday or Thursday when the car was fixed, so we got in the loaner, drove down to Mountain Grove to pick up the dog, and drove all the way back to Lake Geneva , Wisconsin.

I will be driving the loaner back straight through to Rolla and picking up the Bravada when it is done, then driving straight back home. Fun, fun.
