Meet Alice. Alice is a moron, not unlike those who have strange allergies to peanut butter. Alice apparently spent too much time watching "Kicking & Screaming". You know, the scene where Will Ferrel's character Phil Weston does not wait for the "sleeve".

Come on. Are people this inept and so unbelievably un-reliant on their own brain power that they have to trust that someone else will think for them, every step of the way?

Attorney Wins $310K For Scalding

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK A Manhattan lawyer won $310,000 from Starbucks because of a cup of hot decaf spilled on her foot. The jury's verdict was handed down in April and upheld yesterday by State Supreme Court Justice Emily Jane Goodman.

The 42-year-old attorney, Alice Grifffin, says she bought a large decaf on February 10, 2004 from a Starbucks on Seventh Avenue. She says the clerk did not put an insulating sleeve on the cup, and slid the coffee on the counter so it fell on her foot.

Griffin testified the hot coffee scalded her toes leaving her with nerve damage to her foot.

Starbucks says it regrets her pain, but it says the company will appeal the jury verdict if a better settlement can't be reached.

What really gets me here is, this is a lawyer? This person had to go to school for just a bit longer than the usual 4-5 years to gain a bachelor's degree. Further to that, they had to pass the Bar Exam.

Now it is a little known fact that in New York, like California, where dumb is not only bred, it's imported from other places, the bar is not hard to pass. They let a certain number of a exam takers in each year, no matter what their test status based upon the attrition rate.

But come on, Alice is an attorney, an adult (42 at that) yet lacks simple common sense? Just who the hell puts the sleeve on the coffee in her office? Who does it at home?

What a dumb ass.
